Watergy, a system for water treatment, building
climate control and food production
Watergy follows the development of a technology platform for decentralised
basic supply of energy, water and food that can be used within a
number of different applications.
The technological principle is actually proofed at two different
prototypes that are built within a European Union funded research
project (NNE5-2001-683) between April 2003 and March 2006.
In 2004, the first prototype was built for the purpose of greenhouse
horticulture in Almeria/Spain. Measurements as a basis for evaluation
are taken since the autumn of 2004.
A second prototype is currently being built in Berlin as a Living-
or Office Building with an attached façade-greenhouse. Measurements
are expected in the summer 2005.
A further field of activity is the basic research on Advanced Life Support, aimed at the habitation of remote areas like the desert and polar regions or for long term journeys in space.
